What is SLO-CAP

The San Luis Obispo County Child Abuse Prevention Council (SLOCAP), a non-profit organization was founded in 1987 by a group of concerned citizens and professionals providing leadership and development of educational programs to promote the prevention of child abuse and neglect.

Mission Statement

We build effective community partnerships dedicated to the support of strong families and the prevention of child abuse and neglect through education, advocacy and coordination of services

In 1988 the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors designated SLO-CAP as the self-governing entity responsible for local efforts to prevent and respond to child abuse and neglect. In our role as an independent agency, SLO-CAP fosters community relationships to promote a collective approach for the prevention of child maltreatment in all regions of San Luis Obispo County.
